Swanage

Swanage is a picturesque traditional seaside town, unspoilt by the modern way of life. It is located in the Isle of Purbeck surrounded by beautiful countryside and a historically important coastline now designated a national heritage site: The Jurassic Coast. 

With many local attractions and a blue award beach, it is ideal for both a relaxing holiday or one filled with lots of activity.

 Swanage has an interesting history from a fishing and quarrying village to a favourite holiday location of the Victorians and has remained so til the present day.

With stories of smugglers, pirates and sea battles there are many relics of bygone days scattered around the town. Swanage has been known as 'Little London' because of the stone artifacts rescued from London by John Mowlem and George Burt and relocated around the town.

The Town Hall Frontage came from Mercers’ Hall in the City of London and Wellington Tower close to the pier came from near to London Bridge. Other remnants came be seen at Durlston Country Park around the famous Globe and in the grounds of Purbek House Hotel.
